Game Diary 1 - Starting With NES Sprites

 

So I’m trying to make my own game, and the first thing I need are some sprites. Since I’m not an artist I’m going to have to learn first. So I used the app Resprite to make the following character using Link from Zelda 2 as a guide.

While I do enjoy retro sprite art the style here is Zelda 2 and not my own. For this reason I’m going to expand beyond this to find my own style to use for the game.

Hyperfocus Drawing Alert

So yesterday I decided to draw an anime style eye. Started by tracing one before switching how I finished it to make it more my own. Then I decided to make another one from scratch this time (seen below) and here's what I got after hours of drawing. Yeah, the ADHD hidden ability hyper-focus and time-blindness activated. As a result, my arms and now sore from overuse too bad hyper-focus makes me forget to take breaks. Ouch.

Life Update Time

I needed a break from one of the stories I was working on. I was feeling it was becoming too influenced by political problems the US is facing which was also affecting my mental health. So I decided to just walk away from that for the time being and work on my video game which focuses n a much more simple and classic rescue the damsel in distress theme. As I was working on it I decided to start expanding it's story and the next thing I knew it started becoming a start for another light novel story.  So that's where I'm at now, making a new story based on the video game plot idea I came up with months ago.
